There is a child care crisis happening at Wee Care! We get an average of 15 phone calls and emails a week from families desperate for care so they can go back to work. Some of our current families are also looking for care for siblings, they don’t always get a spot either. We are operating at capacity and have been for several years. Our waitlist which once was manageable ballooned to over 600 names. In order to bring a new child in, another one has to leave. Either the families move or the children move on. Winter Raffle 2021

Covid has really hit small businesses hard. From down right closures, staff shortages, supply issues, money goes out but doesn’t come in so easily. Wee Care hasn’t had any issues with staff shortages or supply. Covid has produced a bit of a baby boom according to our ever increasing Waitlist. Where we have had concerns is in the inability to fund-raise as we normally do throughout the year. New crosswalk

After many years of complaints by local residents, including Mr. Paul Talbot and the staff of Wee Care, there will be a crosswalk installed at the foot of Young Street crossing Barrington. We got the good news on March 11, 2021 when Global TV came to visit and our very own Tammy shared her views on air. The bus stop on both sides of Barrington are the nearest access to transit for the staff and children of Wee Care. Crossing the busy street has always been a challenge. Now we will all be a bit safer.

New Executive Director

A decision has been made! Starting on August 2nd, Wee Care Developmental Day Care will have a new captain at the helm of the ship. Beth Towler will be taking over as Executive Director. Beth has many years of experience in the child care industry both in Halifax and the U.K. Staff is very excited to get to know and work with her.
